Weekly Progress

This is not exactly what I wanted to have done but hey, it was one of the things I needed done so I;m happy with what I've accomplished. I got the sound in my animation and my soldier dude is coming along nicely. I probably won't finish my soldier next week but hey, it was fun makin' it.

Weekly goal

This week I hope to finish my character or get to get him fairly well finished. I have only like 3 days left in this class so it's going to be difficult but if I work hard I think I can get it pretty close to done.

Weekly progress

This is what my dude looks like so far. He's lookin' better than I originally thought he would. The boots are giving me trouble, and same with the rim of the helmet. I never had a goal for this week but I guess I got quite a bit done so I'll say that I did good this week. Next week I hope to have him really close to finished, I hope to get him done enough to put some color on him by the end of next week.

The Breakdown

I will first need to sketch out some ideas to get the creative juices flowin'. Then, once I get an idea, I will need to sketch out my final design. After sketching, I will start sculpting my character in Mudbox and get a rough design on there. Then I will need to make all the final touches and lastly give it some color.

My Proposal

Seeing as to how I am running low on time, I hope to complete at least a rough look for the character I will be creating. My character will be original because it will be like a mix between a World War 2 soldier and a futuristic or modern soldier. My motivation for the work is definitely WW2 and cool stuff like that. Now, if you are asking what will motivate me to actually make my project, that would simply be for the grade and the fun of making a character.

Art Analysis

What we see here is the soldier Clayton Carmine. This particular piece of art work is basically just showing viewers the overall look of Carmine. It shows the front side of him, the back side, and a side view of him. I believe the artist is trying to say that Carmine is not someone that should be messed with. He knows exactly what he is doing and he won't take any crap from his enemies. It looks like the artist could have gotten his inspiration from a mix of a cop and soldier with a futuristic and bulky twist to it. He very well could have also combined several game armors together to get his inspiration, games such as Halo and Dead Space. The first emotions that I feel while looking at this photo is the feeling of "badassness". This piece also evokes a feeling of awesomeness. This artwork is styled this way to give viewers a sense as to what Carmine looks like and it also in a way shows his personality. This art work is contributory to the Gears of War fan base community. It gives them a closer look to one of the best characters in the game. It would come to no surprise to me if someone in China or Japan had thought of something similar to this. The artist over seas are really into the futuristic and really odd art. The similarities between this piece and my piece is that my work will be a soldier and Carmine is a soldier. The main difference will be that my work will not be as futuristic or as bulky as Carmine.
